Kahoot!

I picked Kahoot because it is something that I use regularly in my classroom and all of my students are able to access it. Some may need a bit of help getting into the actual game but they are all able to play. I teach Special Education/Multi-lingual learners in grades k-2 so having something that they can all access is important.
I use Kahoot on "Fun Friday" to play games. We play a lot of social emotional games to help us practice these skills. I also use this tool to collect data on my student's progress in academic areas. Using this tool allows them to play a game while still showing me what they know or as we like to call it "being tested".
Sugata Mitra talks about our reptilian brain and how being tested is seen as a threat. I find that using platforms like this one brings down that affective filter and allows students to engage with the activity without worrying about the testing piece. I need to make sure they are learning and to see what progress they have made in order to continue teaching them but I do not need to cause unnecessary stress in the process.
